Our newly re-populated Awards Committee of Fedja Muzur (Northlands Golf Course), Daniel Lee (Fairview Mountain Golf Course) and Sudeep Horo (Westwood Plateau Golf Course) made short work of this year’s student award selections with a total of $2,500 dispersed to three deserving turf management student top guns.

Once again I am extremely honoured to be a Student Award winner for 2025. Thank you Jerry, the Awards Committee, and the WCTA Board for selecting me a second time, I am filled with gratitude. The WCTA is a first-class organization and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. I also want to thank all of my instructors at Kwantlen and my supervisors for believing in me and everything they have taught me.
With an entire year now under my belt working in the industry, I am positive that I’ve made the right decision for my career. The ability to immediately put into practice what I’ve been learning at school has been a special experience and I look forward to many years of continued learning on the job while facing new challenges to overcome.

I am extremely honoured to be recognized as one of the recipients of the 2025 Student Awards.
Thank you to the Western Canada Turfgrass Association, the Board, and the Selection Committee for their generous support and investment in my education and professional development.
I am incredibly grateful to have been selected for this award, and I am excited to continue my education and involvement in the Turfgrass Industry.
Thank you again.
Adam Archibald – Kwantlen
Thank you so much for your email! It was a delightful surprise to receive!
I am honoured to have received this award from the WCTA. Thank you to the Board members and everyone involved in the selection process for presenting me with this honour.
While my experience in the turfgrass industry is limited and I am just starting to dip my foot into the soil, it has been an amazing experience so far. I am so excited to continue to expand my knowledge and gain so much more experience from people within the industry.
During my short time in the industry, while working at Fort Langley GC, and now with the crew at Morgan Creek GC, I have learned a lot and gained many different skills that I will be able to apply as I move forward.
I look forward to meeting more individuals in the WCTA and hopefully earning many more opportunities in the future.
Thank you again,

Of course, we need to acknowledge and thank our outgoing committee members, Peter Sorokovsky, Dave Duncan, Kevin Neufeld and Scott Mitchell for years of dedicated volunteer service in making our annual student award selections. The next generation is taking over and you have earned a break!
